Panorama’s Trail Crew Preps Bike Park For Opening

All winter we hope and pray for snow and last winter we certainly got it! The trail crew enjoyed riding the fresh snow...Now they are enjoying shoveling it away! The Trail Crew have pulled out all the stops to get the Bike Park ready and the recent rain means the trails are moist and tacky, ready for this weekend's bonus early opening (June 25th and 26th).

Check out this video taken last week, when we caught up with the trail crew hard at work in Panorama’s Bike Park. Last fall’s pine beetle logging has also allowed the crew to revamp existing trails with new fun flowy sections. With the official opening day on July 1st 2011, Canada Day, the park will no doubt be ready to kick-off a season of epic mountain biking.

Watch out for the new bike park feature at Panorama this summer
Dream it. Drop it. Have you heard about the Rockstar Bike Rodeo contest? If not, here’s the quick and dirty: Sketch a feature YOU want to see in Panorama’s Bike Park. Upload it to our contest Facebook page at www.facebook.com/panoramamountain.

If your design is chosen as the winner, our mountain crew will build it to full scale. Then on July 16th, 2011 you’ll get to trial it first with Kootenay local bike legend Kurt Sorge. Plus you’ll win a 4 night vacation at Panorama for you and 3 buddies!

Check out contest details on www.facebook.com/panoramamountain and upload your own bike park feature design soon, contest ends July 8th, 2011.

Meh. Im not exactly sold yet. Perhaps a wacky waving inflatable arm-flailing tube man to jazz things up?

Ya, the video was pretty weak. Pano's a good park. Not something to travel all the way from Ontario for on it's own, but a good park none the less.

Exactly my point Stever. I would LOVE to have a Pano like park close to home but video production looked like a high school media class assignment.

I'm feeling it though, wouldn't mind going there at all. Thumbs up for making the effort!

That video was really pretty terrible. Sucked the joy right out of the fresh trail stoke.

I have to ask, why work on Mercy Me when nobody rides it? Go put proper lips on the Hell's Bells jumps or de-sketch the landings and runouts on Crazy Train. Better yet, work on Insanity, which as of last weekend was covered in deadfall and water damage.

Also, can you legally accept volunteers to help with trial work? Because I'll do it for free in future pre-seasons, or hell, even after riding when the lifts get moving. I'm not a local, but I'm up there all the time and I'd be happy to help.

To prepare the technical trails for all abilities of rider they took out the roots and raked it all flat!
The narrator did not inspire me to come over and ride, neither did the features or the way they were being ridden.
Props to everyone though who is out there building the trails to tray and make something of the place.

Don't let this video detract you from Pano. We rode there all day Saturday and everything in the trees was great!! Quite a few washed out runs in the exposed areas, but I assume the trail crew will get to that. I get the vibe that Pano doesn't want to put a lot into it's bike park or promote it much, unlike what I perceive from KH, Sun Peaks and Silver Star (and Whistler of course).
Dogtown and Dusty's Doom were closed, as was Moose Powder. Part of Lookout was also closed, as was lower Quadzilla. I didn't care much for the revamped jumps on Hell's Bells, but then I've never been much of a jumper.

I was up in Panorama last weekend and had to ask myself if this hill has mountain biking as a priority or a convenient add-on to the golf and family fun scene. I have been going up there for the last 8 years and have seen a steady decline in the over all condition of the bike park. I admit that there are some enjoyable new runs like upper-Bender and some new work on Mercy Me but to let the rest of the hill (4-cross, drop park, Crazy Train etc.) slowly decay is tragic. I hope they can hire more trail crew and buff that place up to at least some of it's former glory.

Bike parks where they remove exposed roots, what a dream.
The parks in germany just leave it all there, everything's gnar Eek

'Going to Pano' today after work. Stag party. Beer. Lots of beer...lots! Tip: Remove bladder from hydration pack, then replace with a six'er. The trick is not to drink too much beer, but rather to drink exactly the right amount of beer. Funny, I find it amusing that, at the end of a day of shredding, sometimes [a person] cannot legally drive home. *Shrug.* Phf! Anyway, I'm glad that Pano' has some revamped stuff. Thank you, Pine Beetle!

I am SURe he meant to say "kicking horse blows pano away"

pano = lame jumps with crappy landings, short runs, and scetchy wood... though it has been a few years.

there is so much better riding in the area.
